James L Agee III

James Agee has over 25 years of experience in international legal and institutional reform. In his current role as Vice President at Checchi and Company Consulting, Inc., Mr. Agee is responsible for Checchi’s rule of law practice providing technical supervision, management, and support for rule of law projects and short-term technical assistance on legal and judicial reform issues and leads new business development efforts. From 2006 to 2009, he served as Checchi’s Chief of Party for the Afghanistan Rule of Law Project one of the largest of its kind. As Chief of Party of a USAID rule of law project in the Philippines from 2004 to 2006, he directed the implementation of a multi-agency anti-corruption prosecution program and an innovative anti-human trafficking program. As Chief of Party of Checchi’s rule of law project in Indonesia (2001-2004), Mr. Agee managed components that focused on development of legal infrastructure and legal education. While in Indonesia Mr. Agee developed and implemented several innovative IT-based initiatives, ranging from distance learning programs to a computerized legal information system. From 1999 to 2001, he was responsible for setting up legislative support centers in Indonesia’s eastern provinces for the University of San Francisco School of Law.  Earlier in his career, he served as The Asia Foundation’s Assistant Representative in Indonesia, managing all of the Foundation’s business and legal education grants.

Mr. Agee has graduate degrees in public administration and law from the United States and a Master of Laws from the University of London.  He has worked in Afghanistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia.

 His wife Linda runs a web-based business from their home in Washington, DC and daughter Bianca lives and works in Los Angeles.
